Why Location Matters

Prayer times depend on the sun's position at your coordinates, so Hvsna needs to know where you are. It's also used to pick your timezone.

First Launch

When you first open Hvsna it asks for location permission:

  • Allow — it detects your position and reverse-geocodes it to a place name
  • Don't allow — it opens a search box so you can pick your city manually

If detection fails for any reason, Hvsna falls back to the Jakarta area until you set a location.

Changing Your Location

Open Settings → General → Location.

  • Tap the location name to search for a different place
  • Tap Use current location to re-run GPS detection

Once you've set a location manually, Hvsna won't re-prompt for GPS on its own.

Timezone

Your timezone is set from your location automatically. On the web app you can override it in Settings → General → Timezone; on Android it follows your device.

Privacy

  • Your location is stored on your device (and, if you sync, in your account)
  • It's sent to our geocoding proxy only to turn coordinates into a place name
  • It's used only for prayer time and timezone calculation
  • Settings → Reset Device Data clears it along with everything else
